Often, seemingly insurmountable hurdles were faced with seemingly unattainable goals. But it is the human will that overcomes all hurdles and reaches its goal – even if it is on the moon or if the indivisible (Greek, indivisible: atom) must be split in order to develop a weapon that made it possible for us for the first time to eradicate ourselves.
What we humans are capable of, we impressively demonstrated with these large-scale projects:
– The Manhattan-Project to build the nuclear bomb
– The Apollo-Mission to bring the first human to the moon, or
– The Human-Genome-Project for complete sequencing of the human genome,
PARKINSON TERMINATOR-PROJECT 42 (PTP42) is one such major project to defeat Parkinson’s disease – also to minimize the huge and ever-increasing costs of treating the symptoms and to relieve health insurances by billions of euros.
After more than 200 years of research, we now have for the first time the know-how, technologies and resources available (or within reach) that will enable humanity to rid itself of this disease that can affect any one of us abruptly.
In addition, this project will also take decisive steps to cure other neurodegenerative diseases, develop new technologies and create high-quality jobs in a variety of high-tech areas … And the “return on investment” could well exceed anything that has been achieved with projects of comparable size so far.
Myself, PhD Uwe Radelof, received in 2008 the shocking diagnosis Parkinson. In the meantime, I know which burdens are not only associated with it for a person itself affected, but for the family, the circle of friends and colleagues. As a scientist, however, I am convinced that there must be a solution to this medical problem. Not only for me, but for all those affected and their relatives. This belief drives me to look for the causes of Parkinson’s disease, ultimately defeating them. I know it can only work with strong and enduring partners.
That is why with this platform I offer the opportunity to pool our energies. I invite you to join us in thinking of how to get involved.

Per patient > 1,000 EUR per month | In Europe, this is > EUR 1 billion per month or > EUR 12 billion annually. That’s more than EUR 120 billion or 134 billion US$ over the next 10 years..
State of knowledge:
The causes or a trigger for the disease are unknown. The disease mechanism is still a mystery.
A cure for Parkinson’s is currently not possible. There is also no prevention and no way to stop the disease or slow it down.
Is there a chance that current research efforts will bring about a cure before 2030?
It may be. But it is very uncertain. Why? Current research projects are only concerned with certain aspects of Parkinson’s disease – their origin, mechanism or treatment. A comprehensive approach, an internationally coordinated action and the necessary amount of money and resources are still missing. This is amongst other things the fact that there are “more important” diseases and you can now treat the symptoms of the disease for many years good and expensive.
